World Famous Jackpots

Among those of us who keep our ears to the ground when it comes to online progressive slots jackpots, the news and the rumors can get very confused, very quickly.

We’ve all heard about “that guy” who won “like 8 million” playing online slots. Sometimes there’s a first name, sometime a country of origin…but always there’s a nice clear direct link to the online gambling where it may or may not have happened.

Usually, when you get to the casino, you find that they don’t even offer the game that hit that record progressive jackpot!

Well, we wouldn’t do that to you. Here’s as much of the details as we could find (i.e., as much as anyone on the ‘net knows):

  • In May of 2009, a player going by “Georgios M.” from Greece won €6.3 million. He was playing MegaMoolah slots, which any Microgaming casino should offer. We recommend Cabaret Club Casino, but check the online casino reviews before you make any decisions.
  • This beat the previous record of €5.5 million, also on Mega Moolah, set in April of 2008 by a player going by “Klause E” from Finland. The last time we visited Microgaming’s All Jackpots Casino, the progressive ticker on Mega Mooolah was at about €1.25 million…maybe not a record anymore, but still a life-changing amount for most people!)
  • The most recent “Big”  progressive slots win was in November of 2009, when a player called “Marie” from Gothenburg won €3.9 million. The slots game was MegaFortune, a Net Entertainment game which may be found at Betsson Casino (among other places that we can’t personally vouch for!)

While it may seem that most progressive slots are called “Mega-something”, there are actually quite a few others. Every software provider has at least a handful of progressive slots, and most have at least one game which regularly strays into the million-plus range.
